Coupon Use FAQ

How do I use a coupon on the Net?

Coupons come in a variety of flavors. Most are simply coupon codes that you enter into the Merchant's site during checkout or in the shopping cart. Others are what we call coupon links. Coupon links are typically activated when you click on the link from our site.

How to use a Coupon Code:

There are typically two places to enter a coupon code depending on the merchant you are visiting. Most merchants have you enter the code during the checkout process. Many of them have a place for you to enter a coupon code on the first page of checkout, while others have it on the next to last page. If you don't find a place to enter the code, do not check out and assume you can get the merchant to let you apply it later. They will likely not allow it. Many sites call the coupons Gift Codes, or Gift Certificate Codes.

Do I have to be a new customer? Really?

Many of the coupons are for first time customers only. We try to denote this in the deal description and on the "All Coupons" page in the restrictions column. On most sites, a new user is defined as a new email account in their system.

Sometimes you can enter the code in the shopping cart...

Sites such as Staples and Barnes and Noble allow you to enter the coupon code while you are looking at your items in the shopping cart. This is a great way to do a quick test to make sure the code is still valid or that you meet the minimum requirements to use the coupon before you go through the entire checkout process.

Sometimes you enter the code during the checkout process...

Amazon.com requires you to enter your coupon codes during the checkout process. They do this on the same screen where you enter your credit card information. It is called a Gift Certificate on their site. Many sites do require you to enter the code during the checkout process. Be sure to read the screens to see where to enter the codes for the particular site you are visiting.

I don't see the discount reflected in my subtotal before final checkout...

If you don't see the discount reflected before you press the "confirm this order" button, don't checkout. 9.9 times out of 10, you should see the discount reflected in the price before checkout. There are a few rare occasions where the merchant applies the discount after-the-fact. We make you fully aware of these situations in the deal description.

I'm just really confused as to how to do this...
